On 3rd of July, the Ministry of Environmental Protection released the Notice of the List of Manufacturers (First Group) Which Passed Environmental Protection Scrutiny on Glyphosate (Notice No. 47 of 2014); therefore, the long-awaited list of manufacturers which passed the environmental protection scrutiny on glyphosate was finally unveiled; however, only four of the ten manufacturers for the record have passed the first environmental protection scrutiny on glyphosate. It can be seen that the environmental protection policies on glyphosate production are getting increasingly tight.
To prepare for the second environmental protection scrutiny on glyphosate (PMIDA) manufacturers, China Crop Protection Industry Association (CCPIA) released the Notice of Environmental Protection Scrutiny on Glyphosate (PMIDA) Manufacturers (CCPIA Notice No. 15 of 2014) in this April, which announced that environmental protection scrutiny would be carried out on manufacturers which produce or intend to produce glyphosate (PMIDA). On 25th of June, CCPIA held a symposium on environmental protection scrutiny in Beijing, inviting glyphosate (PMIDA) manufacturers to attend. Through researches on environmental protection standards and feedback from the symposium, there are eighteen manufacturers in the glyphosate (PMIDA) production industry which voluntarily filed for the second environmental protection scrutiny on glyphosate (PMIDA) manufacturers. These eighteen manufacturers are actively preparing relevant materials for the forthcoming environmental protection scrutiny.
In order to better know the environmental protection treatment in glyphosate (PMIDA) production, guide the manufacturers to actively participate in environmental protection scrutiny, and help manufacturers deal with problems encountered while they are filing for the scrutiny, recently, CCPIA invited experts on environmental protection scrutiny to do field investigation and hear reports from manufacturers on their preparation progress for the scrutiny. The experts answered questions brought up by manufacturers on the site regarding to their filing for the scrutiny and brought up comments and suggestions.
Currently, experts have already carried out field investigations among glyphosate (PMIDA) manufacturers in Shandong, Anhui, Jiangxi, Chongqing and other provinces. Next, they will further carry out field investigations and give guidance among glyphosate (PMIDA) manufacturers in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Sichuan, Henan, etc. Furthermore, according to the Technological Evaluation of Disposal and Application of Glyphosate (PMIDA) Mother Liquor (Detection Scheme), they will do sampling inspection on glyphosate (PMIDA) mother liquor from manufacturers in production and retrieved by-products to analyze the environmental risks brought by mother liquor and the retrieved by-products; therefore, they could determine the by-products’ management attributes and provide basic data for the technical proposals for treatment and application of glyphosate (PMIDA) mother liquor.
