According to insiders, Ren Jianxin, President of ChemChina met relevant stakeholders from Syngenta in Europe. After release of news of merger between Dow and Dupont, ChemChina’s competitors in the market, ChemChina began to push forward its own merger plan.
According to insiders, ChemChina’s previous offer of 449 Swiss franc (457 USD) per share was deemed too low by Syngenta, and ChemChina is now in the process of revising its offer of merging Syngenta.
No agreement has been reached yet between the two sides, and there is possibility that ChemChina may not come up with a new offer.
While in negotiations with ChemChina, Syngenta has also held unofficial talks with its American counterpart Monsanto (97.09, 1.47, 1.54%) at the same time. It is said that Syngenta is considering to bid for any asset stripped off the merge between Dow and Dupont.
