According to Beijing Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau, in order to improve the air quality over the APEC 2014 and related meetings, the list of manufacturers which will have to stop production, limit production or be governed will be released. The operation mode for production halt and production limitation will be specified.
The Collaborative Office on Prevention of Air Pollution in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and the surrounding regions recently held meetings to work out and refine the support scheme aiming to improve the air quality over the APEC 2014 and related meetings. The Collaborative Office’s meeting required that the six provinces, regions and municipalities including Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, and Shandong should spare no effort to implement the air quality protection measures, guarantee operability of the production halt and limitation and achieve concrete results, so that air pollution emission could be reduced and the air quality of the year could be improved. Leading groups headed by government leaders aiming to guarantee air quality over the APEC meetings will be established in the above-mentioned regions. The leading groups will make the list of manufacturers which will have to stop production, limit production or have to be governed over the meetings and specify the operating mode for production halt or limitation. Prior to this, Zhuang Zhidong, deputy director of Beijing Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau, once expressed that during the APEC 2014, Beijing will follow the air quality protection mode adopted during the 2008 Olympic Games and will join hands with surrounding provinces and municipalities to prevent and control air pollution by employing measures such as restricting pollutant emission or limiting production.
Among the provinces and regions which have to stop or limit production, Shandong province is a big pesticide producer. Over the production halt or limitation period, pesticide manufacturers production will be affected to some extent. In terms of the market, the pesticide price will subsequently rise due to a changing relationship between supply and demand.
