In 2013, 32 pesticide enterprises in Nantong City produced about 216,000 tons of pesticides (100% basis), a year-on-year increase of 4.93%. There were 182,000 tons of herbicides, a year-on-year increase of 9.77%, 18,000 tons of insecticides, a year-on-year decrease of 9.08%, and 14,000 tons of bactericides, a year-on-year decrease of 14.97%. The operating income was RMB 11.61 billion, a year-on-year increase of 14.52%, of which, that of herbicides was RMB 8.41 billion, a year-on-year increase of 13.79%. The sum of profit and tax was RMB 1.04 billion, a year-on-year increase of 52.11%, of which the profit was RMB 810 million, a year-on-year increase of 47.82%.

The pesticide production of the whole industry increased by nearly 5%, of which the production of herbicides increased by nearly 10% while that of insecticides and bactericides continued to drop. There was a rare boom in the overall economic benefits, thanks to the rise in the price of glyphosate. Among the 32 enterprises, only 2 had a deficit, with a total loss of RMB 9.74 million. Nantong Jiangshan, Jiangsu Good Harvest-Weien, Jiangsu Kuaida (incorporated into Lier Chemical), Syngenta (Nantong), CAC Chemical (CAC Group), Jiangsu Baoling and Baozhong Baoda made to the list of 2013 Top 100 Enterprises in the Chinese Pesticide Industry, and Nantong Lihua ranked into the list of Top 30 China formulators.
